Geotextiles

Geotextiles and Construction Materials

Nonwovens are an integral part of construction wheter on the road or in a building or in your home.  Nonwovens offer many advantages in the deotextiles / construction market.

Geotextiles are permeable fabrics which, when used in association with soil, have the ability to separate, filter, reinforce, protect, or drain. Typically made from polypropylene or polyestor, geotextile fabrics come in three basic forms: woven, needle punched, or heat bonded.  Geotextiles can also improve soil strength at a lower cost than conventional soil nailing and allow planting on steep slopes, further securing the slope.  Geotextiles are also used for sanddune armoring to protect upland coastal property from storm surge, wave action and flooding as well as to protect against erosion.  Geotextiles and related products have many applications and currently support many civil engineering applications including roads, airfields, railroadsembankmentsretaining structuresreservoirscanalsdamsbank protection, coastal engineering and construction site silt fences.
